Minimising the Energy Consumed During the Run of BLOODHOUND SSC
In this session, Rory shows how to use Symbolic Math Toolbox™ and Optimization Toolbox™ to mathematically model and solve for optimal energy consumption during the run of the BLOODHOUND SuperSonic Car.
Highlights include:
- Using a symbolic notebook interface to define equations of motion, constraints of the run (for example, reaching 1000 mph), and energy consumed
- Importing symbolic equations from the symbolic notebook into MATLAB®
- Increasing optimisation speed using analytical calculations
- Determining optimal timing of the thrust and braking mechanisms to minimise energy
