Overview

The industrial world is changing with the emergence of smart industry including digitization, Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) and Industry 4.0. Today’s production machines and handling equipment have become highly integrated mechatronic systems with a significant portion of embedded software.

A major driver of smart industry is the growing amount of data. Vision sensors, electric and hydraulic drives, even production machines and power plants all collect measured data during operation. This data contains information that can be transformed into business value using predictive models and algorithms.

Smart industry depends on the growing complexity of software and an ever-increasing amount of machine data. In the long term, the evolving trend will challenge engineers to become proficient in using new software design methods and data analytics tools in order to embrace this complexity.

About the Presenter

Dr. Amod Anandkumar, Application Engineering Manager, MathWorks India
Dr. Amod Anandkumar is the Manager of the Signal Processing & Communications Application Engineering group at MathWorks India, focusing on deep learning, automated driving, and wireless communications. Prior to this, he was a lead engineer with the advanced technology group at Samsung Research India, Noida where he developed LTE physical layer algorithms and novel healthcare applications for smartphones. He was also a post-doctoral research fellow at the Biomedical Signal Analysis Lab, GE Global Research Bangalore, working on ultrasound imaging and biomedical signal processing, resulting in one US patent filing. Amod holds a B.Tech degree from National Institute of Technology Karnataka and a Ph.D. degree from Loughborough University, UK. His research interests include machine learning, computer vision, wireless networks, game theory, and convex optimization. He has published and reviewed papers in numerous international conferences and journals.

Amit Doshi, Senior Application Engineer, MathWorks India
Amit Doshi works as a senior application engineer at MathWorks in the area of technical computing. He is responsible for driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. At MathWorks he focuses primarily on “data analytics”.  Amit has over 12 years of experience working across industry. Over the years he has worked on data analytics, experimental test setup development, workflow automation, and system simulations. He previously worked at Suzlon Energy Limited in Pune and Germany, Texas Instruments in Germany, and IIT Bombay. Amit holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering and a Master’s degree in Mechatronics.

Jayanth Balaji Avanashilingam, Application Engineer, MathWorks India
Jayanth Balaji Avanashilingam works as an Application Engineer at MathWorks in the area of Language of Technical Computing. He primarily focuses on areas of Data Analytics for the application involving with Time-Series data. Jayanth has around 4 years of research and industrial experience, where he was working developing AI/ML/DL solutions for various application areas, such as retail optimization, computer vision and Natural Language Processing. Prior to joining MathWorks Jayanth was working as Senior AI Engineer at Impact Analytics, Bangalore. Jayanth holds Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Master’s degree in Very Large Scale Integration Design and currently he is pursuing his doctoral research with the thesis titled “Investigations into Faster Training of Deep Learning Algorithms for Modeling Time-Series”.
