MATLAB Best Practices for GNC Engineers: Navigation

Overview

In this series designed specifically for GNC engineers, we will explore tools and workflows that help streamline guidance, navigation, and control algorithm development.

In this session, we will focus on utilities for developing navigation algorithms, as well as integrating these algorithms back into a larger GNC simulation for closed-loop simulation-based testing.

Highlights

  • Using IMU and GPS sensor models to generate synthetic sensor data to enable early testing of your algorithms’ performance
  • Simulating optical sensor data for spacecraft navigation algorithm development (such as terrain relative navigation)
  • Exploring built-in functionality – from Kalman filters to sensor-specific fusion algorithms – to build pose estimation algorithms

About the Presenter

Julia Brault is a senior application engineer for the aerospace and defense industry at MathWorks. Throughout her 9 years at MathWorks, she's worked extensively with engineers at government entities and research labs, helping them develop models and algorithms in MATLAB and Simulink. She specializes in modeling and simulation of physical systems, with a focus on robotic and autonomous systems. Julia holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University.
