Wideband Wireless Systems: From Simulation to Hardware with MATLAB and NI USRP
Overview
In this session jointly hosted by MathWorks and National Instruments, we introduce prototyping and testing wideband wireless systems using MATLAB and NI USRP hardware. It focuses on bridging the gap between simulation and real-world validation through high-speed signal transmit, capture, and analysis workflows.
Attendees will learn how to implement over-the-air testing, prototype algorithms on hardware, and apply these techniques to modern wireless applications such as 6G, ISAC, 5G, WLAN, and spectrum monitoring.

About the Presenter
Vijayendra Kumar | Principal Product Manager for Wireless Communications | MathWorks
Vijayendra Kumar leads strategy and product development for wireless system design and prototyping solutions. His work focuses on enabling end-to-end workflows for technologies such as 5G, WLAN, Bluetooth, and Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC), covering system modeling, algorithm development, and SDR-based prototyping. Over the past several years, he has collaborated closely with customers across academia, research institutions, and industry to support wireless standards development and system-level design. He has delivered numerous technical workshops and tutorials on wireless communications, coexistence analysis, and prototyping workflows. Vijayendra also engages with industry standards communities, including 3GPP, Bluetooth SIG, and IEEE 802.11 working groups, to stay aligned with evolving wireless technologies and requirements. Prior to joining MathWorks, he spent more than a decade in startups focused on wireless communications and embedded systems. He holds a degree from IIT Roorkee.
Siddhant Dhawan | Senior Application Engineer – Wireless Expert, APAC | JKAIT at National Instruments
Siddhant Dhawan is based in Bangalore, India, and specializes in Radio Frequency (RF) systems, with experience spanning Aerospace and Defence as well as advanced wireless technologies, including 5G and emerging 6G research. He began his career working on RADARs, satellites, and target simulators, and later advanced into a lead RF conformance engineering role, focusing on standards such as 4G, 5G, NB-NTN, and NR-NTN.
In his current role, he is working as Subject Matter Expert of NI USRP and collaborates with leading academic and research institutions across JKAIT region (Japan, Korea, ASEAN, India, Taiwan) supporting wireless communication research through test and measurement solutions. He has extensive engagement with stakeholders across the telecom ecosystem.
His interest in research began during his undergraduate studies, culminating in a published paper titled "What to Expect from 5G Systems" in the IOSR Journal of Mobile Computing & Application in 2016.
