Many festivals and events in or near Paderborn contribute to the city’s cultural scene: Libori, one of the oldest and largest public festivals (Volksfest) in Germany; the Honky Tonk festival, with blues, jazz, rock’n’roll, hip hop, pop, swing, tango, folk, and country bands; annual summer festival of the University of Paderborn.
Proximity to Universities
The University of Paderborn is nearby and offers the opportunity to take part in scientific and social events of the faculties and institutes. The institute of computer science and the Heinz Nixdorf Institute, an interdisciplinary research institute, together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronics are noted educational and research institutes.
