Primarily responsible for all areas of Indirect Taxation in India, you will be interacting with a global team of Tax Specialists and regularly assist the Finance Management team in compliance questions. You will also enhance your general knowledge of Finance, being exposed to Operations, Accounting, Project Management, Technology/Systems, Reporting and Analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Indirect Taxation:
    • Timely compliance through leveraging systems and preparing appropriate supporting documentation, work papers and calculations.
    • Support the annual Statutory audit and manage Tax audits.
    • Interact with Freight Forwarders and Clearing House Agents for timely Customs clearance.
    • Provide high quality tax advisory to the business including working cross functionally with the Global Tax Team, Legal, Order Management & Billing, Sales, etc. and provide guidance as appropriate.
    • Coordinate with External Consultants, Tax Authorities, and Global Tax Team to keep relevant stakeholders updated of the developments / changes relating to tax laws and its impact on the business.
    • Manage audits by tax authorities, including assessments, appeals and other litigations and protecting the company’s interest by taking correct tax positions.
  • Others:
    • Look at the “Big Picture” and actively review existing processes, take suggestions from the team and identify projects in relevant areas for process improvements, implement changes and automate wherever possible.
    • Support other ad-hoc tasks/projects and supporting offices outside India when required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree, or equivalent experience) is required.

Additional Qualifications

  • Expert working knowledge of domestic indirect tax laws and accounting concepts is a must.
  • Preferably having a professional experience of 5 to 7 years in Indirect taxation.
  • Must be proactive, ready to get involved, and prepared to tackle routine tasks as needed.
  • Having a Chartered Accountancy qualification will be a plus.
  • Ability to liaison with the department and being independent in handling assessment.
  • Ability to contribute on matters related to Direct Tax will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a high tech and data driven organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of both internal and external personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to embrace new technologies with a bent of mind towards tax-technical knowledge.
  • Systems & process savvy with experience in relevant software & financial reporting systems such as Microsoft Office Applications (EXCEL, WORD, etc.), SharePoint, Oracle Cloud ERP, Business Objects, and Taxation Software.
  • Experience and keen interest in automation of repetitive data management and tax compliance process will be an added advantage.
  • Teamwork mentality and problem-solving attitude, with high standards of integrity and work ethics.
