How to download a Support package for installation on a offline computer for MATLAB R2016a and below?

My network has a proxy and the Support Package Installer or Target Installer does not have an option for me to enter my proxy information. I am unable to proceed with the download and installation.

When I try to authenticate the MathWorks log in prompt, it tells me that an error has occurred.

As long as an internet connection is detected, the Support Package Installer will attempt to have you authenticate your MathWorks account over the internet. If you have proxy server on your network, the Support Package Installer will attempt to inherit the proxy credentials from your MATLAB preferences and then from your operating system settings, in that order. If you are still unable to authenticate even after entering your proxy credentials in MATLAB, the authentication process can be circumvented:

The below steps must be performed on a machine outside of your authenticated proxy with the same MATLAB license installed as the target machine:

1. Run the command "supportPackageInstaller" in MATLAB.
2. Select Download from Internet.
3. Choose your package and specify the download location and click next.
4. Confirm the download and click the Download button to start the process.

Installation Instructions

1. Download the .p file that is attached to this article. Place the file in your MATLAB working directory.
2. Run enableSupportPkgInstallationWithProxy.p. It should return: 'Support package installation enabled with web proxies for this MATLAB session'
3. Run the command "supportPackageInstaller" in MATLAB.
4. Select Install from folder and specify the location where you downloaded you files. Click Next.
5. Select your support package to install and click next.
6. The Support Package Installer should no longer prompt you to authenticate with your MathWorks Account and you should be able to continue with the installation as normal.

I have the same problem. I've read your solution, and especially the following line: "The below steps must be done completed on a machine outside of your authenticated proxy". Well, of course my company doesn't allow me to do that. My browser does have internet (www) access through a proxy. What about a simple download link to the package?

Hello All, I need to add Arduino hardware supporting package in Matlab R2016a version which is installed in my computer. I tried to install the package available in the link below but installing time falta alert : protocol_version. So help me for removing this proble i also use the attachment file of 2013a through 2017b file but this error continues occurs so maths works team provide me bug report file zip file for the matlab R2016a (attachment Zip type file ) for solving this type of error. Please help as i am a student.

edit: Just to clarify both methods above do not work. Including using the .p file and using

java.lang.System.setProperty('com.mathworks.useSystemProxies', 'false')

I'm on an network with a proxy that requires authentication and I did set the proxy settings in settings>web.

It's nearly a year later and no update. I have the same issue.

I know my connection works and proxy is configured properly in matlab because I can use the urlget function without issue.

Change Proxy settings:

• Go to Matlab home page
• Click on Preferences tab
• Click on Web tab
• Change the Proxy settings as shown in the fig below
• Run the command supportPackageInstaller in Matalab command prompt
• Now GUI itself guide you to install support package you want.

I think that's all what u need. Its very simple !!

Proxy systems can be arranged with or without passwords. If your system does not use passwords then do not check "Use a proxy with authentication". If your proxy system does use passwords, then use the proxy username and password provided by your IT department. Proxies are a network security feature provided by IT departments and have nothing to do with Mathworks.

I tried the same , but when I tested the connection it shows failed. I cant still download support packages as it shows "error downloading support packages from mathworks"

me too, I downloading support package for LEGO Mindstorms EV3, it shows "Unable to load a message catalog 'legoev3io:build'. Please check the file location and format", I saw some file --archives-- in C:\MATLAB\SupportPackages\R2015a\downloads.

this happened overnight. Error downloading URL. Your network connection may be down or your proxy settings improperly configured. This has been solved in Matlab 2018b. Is there any patch for this?
