How can I save a table to excel file so that all excel cells have not specific format?

How can I save a table to excel file so that all excel cells have not specific format (so not text or number but general)?

Use writetable. A quick test showed a table containing text and numbers that I saved using writetable was using the general format in the excel spreadsheet.
