Besides additional options, is there any difference in the implementation of BackscatterSonarTarget and BackscatterRadarTarget?

Both BackscatterSonarTarget and BackscatterRadarTarget are used for roughly the same purpose. The radar target has considerably more configuration options, such as polariziation. But when it comes to implementation, is there any real difference? Similarly, is there any reason I couldn't use WidebandBackscatterRadarTarget but in a sonar application?
