Simscape Error: Incorrect physical domain connections between Gas Pressure Source and Single-Acting Actuator
Show older comments
Hello community,
I’m trying to connect a Simscape Fluids gas pressure source to a Single‑Acting Actuator (G), but the actuator is not moving as expected. My goal is to get 0–14 mm stroke from a Simulink signal, and I’m not sure whether I need a Controlled Pressure Source, a gas reservoir/volume element, or a different converter connection.
I’ve connected the mechanical port and included Solver Configuration, but the pressure signal still doesn’t seem to affect the actuator. The model is intended to work with gas pressure input, so I’d appreciate help with the proper establishment, exact connection, and required settings, including what blocks to add or remove to make the actuator work correctly.
Any guidance on these specific settings and connection rules would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hello,
You need a controlled pressure-driven gas network, not a direct Simulink to actuator connection. your issue is likely missing controlled source and incomplete gas network (no volume/reservoir), so pressure is not influencing the actuator.
Key fixes are as follows:
Use Controlled Pressure Source (G)
- Regular Pressure Source won’t respond to your Simulink signal unless driven via its physical signal port Pressure Source (G) - Generate constant or time-varying pressure differential - MATLAB
Add Simulink-PS Converter
- Required to convert Simulink signal → physical signal for pressure input
Complete the gas loop (very important)
- Add Gas Reservoir / Constant Volume (G) + reference
- Gas network must be closed; otherwise pressure won’t propagate
Check actuator basics
- Motion depends on gauge pressure at port A
- Verify stroke limits, orientation, and load are not blocking motion Single-Acting Actuator (G) - Single-acting linear actuator in a gas network - MATLAB
Hope this helps.
