Matlab will not start properly on Mac OS X 10.6.6

Hi, I am new with Mac computers and I have some basic familiarity with Linux systems. I have installed Matlab 2010b on my laptop (Mac OS X 10.6.6). Suddenly I noticed that every time I start Matlab for the first time, it takes forever (5-10 minutes) for the Matlab window to show up (even when I type matlab -nodesktop in the Terminal). However, if I type matlab -nojvm, it starts right away.
I have tried reinstalling Matlab and reinstalling the update for Java (Version: 1.6.0_22-b04-307), but nothing seems to be working. I have Java 64-bit available and I have installed the 64-bit version of Matlab.
This has been puzzling me for a few days, and I have searched all possibilities online and couldn't find an answer for that. I would appreciate if someone could help me with that. Please let me know if you need additional info.

I recommend that you contact Mathworks support on this issue. There is free support for installation issues.

According to this discussion, the first of those errors is a conflict between newer processors and Apple's Rosetta Stone. Further down in the discussion towards the bottom of the page, someone shows how to disable Rosetta Stone.
