Change the simbolic meaning of a variable.

Hi everyone, im a noob using matlab and i hope you can help me. I assigned "x" a simbolic meaning using syms in order to differetiate it and later make some substitution in the answer. However I want to use the resulting expression in another function, which uses the newton method to solve equations. However her my "x" doesnt ave to be symbolic. Someone knows how to help me, thanks in advance.
