How do I create layers of menu in AppDesigner?

Hi,

I want to create a GUI using AppDesigner that has multiple layers, for example if I push a button, then it will show another independent panel(which contains components that do different things than the first panel). I tried to create multiple panels on top of each other, but AppDesigner keeps making it the children of the previous one, which messes everything up. Anyone has a solution to this?
