Worldwide statistics on use of Matlab products

Hi there,

I am preparing a presentation that illustrates the benefits of the campus-wide license for all Matlab and Simulink products.

I would like to add weight to the presentation by showing some statistics on the current worldwide use of Matlab and Simulink products. How many universities and students currently use these products?

Whiile I am sure someone at The Mathworks has that information at hand, I don't think they will publish that information. And anything they show on a static forum like this would be wrong next month or next year. So why would they want to post an answer that must be constantly be updated?

Reember that while MathWorks is a privately held company, even publically held corporations would not publish information like this on a public forum. Would, for example, you expect a cereal company to tell you the market penetration of Frosted Flakes® versus Wheaties® on store shelves?
