The main file on which I work every day (called sound.m) just diseapeared from my computer.
I can't figure out exactly if I closed it by inadvertently cliking on the cross, but I saw it diseapear from the top bar, so I tried to open it again by the command windown typing "edit sound" and the inbuilt sound function of Matlab opened instead. Then I checked in my main directory and my original sound.m was not there anymore, neither in the trash.
I wonder if there was a conflict with the inbuilt function (I didn't know that one existed until now), but I've been using this file for like two years without problem.
Do you have any idea of what happened, and is there any way to get it back?

If you have Windows, use File Explorer and search ‘This PC’ to see if you can find it. Even though that may take a while, it’s likely worth the effort. Also, see if you have a backup (with the .asv extension if you have AutoSave enabled, set with Preferences->Editor/Debugger->Backup Files).

I use macOS actually, I did make a global search but it gave no result. I didn't know about the .asv, I have option turned on, with location in source file directory, I see a few of them (I actually have the ~ thing) but not the one of my file :(

At this point, I can only extend to you my sympathies. I back up all my MATLAB files to a large SD chip every couple weeks, so I have reasonably recent copies of them in case problems occur. (I’m going to do that again today.)
