I am having some difficulty with the question / answer process. I have apparently accepted an answer and received a badge but in fact the issue is not resolved but has changed.

Now when I go to my public site, 493297, it comes up, then fades and an authenticating spinner authenticates me and then the site reappears with a panel saying successfully signed in. This panel then fades. This process allows me to see my public page without me entering my credentials but others cannot.

If my wife tries to view my public site, on her computer, she sees a brief glimpse and then a successfully signed out page and she is offered a sign in panel.
