The code explains in detail about an alternative rain sensing wiper system which can perform the same function as the conventional Lucas wiper system with a reduction in torque requirement of 18%. Also, there is a increase in current consumed of about 24 % as compared to the existing system which is a compromise. The major advantage is the use of ready off the shelf items for the implementation of the system leading to a cost savings of around 40% and a size reduction of around 67% accompanied by a weight reduction of 60%. The main objective of this system is to sense the rain and can lead to potential savings if implemented on a large scale in a city like Mumbai (500 vehicles/km) of large vehicle density.
