Description

Adams is a multibody dynamics simulation solution for modelling and analysing complex mechanical systems in real-world operating conditions. It helps engineers evaluate system behaviour early, reduce reliance on physical prototypes, and make informed decisions on performance, durability, comfort, and safety.

For control-system development, Adams provides a realistic mechanical plant model that can be connected to controller designs. This enables engineers to validate system-level behaviour, tune controllers, study edge cases, and build confidence before hardware testing.

Adams is well suited for applications where mechanical motion and control logic are developed together, including vehicle dynamics, active suspension, braking and steering systems, robotics, industrial machinery, and aerospace mechanisms.

Through Adams Mechatronics, Adams connects with Simulink® using S-functions and MEX files, allowing the mechanical model to run as a Simulink block while exchanging inputs and outputs during co-simulation;  without manually deriving the full mechanical equations.

Adams also supports FMI-based workflows by exporting mechanical models as FMUs for use in Simulink and vice versa, enabling co-simulation between mechanical and control-system models.
