Installation on Fedora 19 (Schrödinger's Cat) --> Activation problem with HostID

2 views (last 30 days)
Hi, I wanted to install MATLAB R2013b on Fedora 19, but I had a problem with the online activation. I read about this problem in some blogs and forums. Probably, MATLAB uses an old library for detecting the internet connection. It read out the MAC address (=HostID) of the eth0, but in Fedora 19 a newer library with different denotaion is used. Consequently, I wanted to continue with an offline activation and I downloaded the license file from mathworks. Therefore I entered my HostID/MAC address. MATLAB displays my HostID with 000000000000. Of course my HostID is different. So, I see that MATLAB doesn't detect the correct MAC address.
MATLAB also displays after using the license file:
This license file appears to have been generated for a different computer. Either: - Go back and activate automatically using the Internet. - Or, if you do not have a license file for this computer, select the option indicating you do not have a license file. We will help you with the next steps
Thanks for help, Stephan

I am also experiencing this problem. Has anyone identified a solution?

I am also experiencing this problem. More precisely, when I am connected to the Internet via ethernet Matlab works fine, but not when I'm offline.
The reason might be because the eth0 card is turned off when I'm offline so I guess it's rather a Linux issue than a Matlab issue.
If you managed to fix this bug, I would be interested to know how you did it. I am running Matlab on Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander
