License file not generated for my computer

I keep following the online instructions to download the necessary license file (license.lic) so that I can activate my software. Every time I download the file from the license generating service, after providing my details (correctly!!!) the install prompts the error message "This license file appears to have been generated for a different computer." I have tried everything, why is this install so pathetically complex? Installers should do just that, we don't all live in the 1980s...

Just to clarify, I have been generating my license online via the Mathworks website from my account. I've been attempting to install via internet connection, and I did enter my details incorrectly at one point but have since rectified the error in subsequent attempts to generate the license file. Please, anyone, help.

Which operating system are you using? Do you happen to be using linux ?
