Why does my keyboard frequently stop working (only in Matlab)?

7 views (last 30 days)
I'm sure I must be accidentally hitting a shortcut combination but I haven't been able to figure out what I'm doing via google. Hopefully someone here can help.
This does not seem to be a Windows issue, as it only happens in the instance of Matlab I'm currently working in (I have several open at the same time).
Some of the symptoms are:
  • Clicking on a tab in the editor closes that tab instead of selecting it
  • Using the arrow keys cycles through appearances of the currently highlighted variable
  • Backspace seems to function as undo
  • The delete key does nothing
Thanks!

Go to File -> Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts.
Make sure everything is set alright there.
Action Name Vs Shortcuts will tell you your settings.

Hi David,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not sure what to look for. Any ideas?
One other symptom I've just noticed: I can't add or remove breakpoints in the editor when this happens.
Thanks!
EDIT: it's unlikely to be something "incorrect" in the shortcut settings, since if I restart Matlab I no longer have the issue. It's likely a legitimate keyboard mode that I just don't know about.

@ A: have you found a solution? I'm experiencing the same thing.
