For the copy right protection of the audio signal. The watermark image is send along with the audio signal and adding the image doesn't affect the audio signal quality. The extraction of the watermark image from the audio signal will prove the ownership.

Adding the watermark always affects the audio signal quality unless you allow the audio signal to get larger.

But did you see the IEEE paper(AUDIO WATERMARKING VIA EMD) ....it wont affect the audio quality, when the watermark is added in the low frequency
