Thorlabs CSS2000 spectrometer infterface with Matlab using NI VISA

I am trying to automate the Thorlabs CSS2000 series spectrometer using Matlab. VISA was provided with the software, and below is the code I am using to interface it. The problem is that matlab does not have the .mdd file for this particular spectrometer. Is there any way I can get/create it? I doubt using midedit will work.
