Turn on 'View Figure Toolbar' programmaticaly

I have generated a figure to which I add text via a uicontrol command. This turns off visibility of the 'Figure Toolbar'.

I can use the 'View' menu to toggle visibility but I wish to force visibility programmatically. The figure properties do not seem to allow this. Any suggestions ?

Try this:

set(fig, 'toolbar', 'figure')

where fig is the figure you are working with
