GUI ASCII Import Code

Hi there, I'm doing small program with lots of data presentation. I used to connect to work database to import all the data, but now I have to import ASCII data as well. Is there a default ascii GUI code that I can use (instead of writing it all from scratch?) Something like "Import Data" in Matlab (Home-> Import Data) where a user can separate the columns / rows and assign different units and column names to each column.
