Hi ,
Please would like to know if anyone has simulation on semiconductor optical amplifier use case in coherent optical tranmission system.
Need to investigate it use cases and impact on OSNR and optical signal quality measurementsMAT

Hi Basil,
There are some Semiconductor Optical Amplifier implementations in MATLAB available in File Exchange by 3rd party/individual contributors, which you can refer to in the following links:
  1. https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/50085-semiconductor-optical-amplifier-model
  2. https://in.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/104750-semiconductor-optical-amplifier-soa-simulator
  3. https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/48262-reflective-semiconductor-optical-amplifier-rsoa-model
However, like in your case, when adapting a fundamental SOA model for use in coherent optical transmission systems, there are some additional factors you should consider like phase noise: you can improve the models for laser phase noise both at the transmitter and local oscillator at the receiver.
Usually, coherent systems use advanced modulation formats such as QPSK and QAM. Before proceeding with the files in File Exchange, ensure that these SOA models are compatible with these formats. In a nutshell, while these MATLAB/Simulink models can provide a good start for SOA modeling, additional modules and considerations are necessary to accurately simulate the complex interactions within a coherent optical transmission system.
I hope it helps!
