How can I get US dry land border coordinates(Lat. and Lon)?

6 views (last 30 days)
Hi all,
I aim to create contour lines outling a specific parameter on US map.Hence, I need to create mesh on the maps first. This stage can be done by meshgrid function based on the bounding box of US. However, I need to check that each node of the grid lies inside the US map so that I would not have contour lines outside the US. For this, I need to know the ploygone of the US border. Can anyone help me with this regard?
I have been stucked at this stage for more than 3 weeks!

What do you want to have happen for the places where the border is in water, such as in some of the Great Lakes or the St Laurence Seaway ?

I dont want them. Since the parameter that I aim to show with contour lines, is just for dry land.
I mean I just need a simple polygon of the US border (provided that I can access to the Lat and Lon of the points forming the polygon).

This function returns a logical array describing the landness of any given lat/lon arrays. Requires Matlab's Mapping Toolbox.
