why is the maximum number of workers which can be created on local cluster limited to 12?

I have R2011b on my system and wanna execute a parallel code. I have more than 12 cores on my system but on local cluster I can have only up to 12 labs. What shoud I do? It will be really kind of you if you answer me as quickly as possible

Upgrade to a higher version of Matlab. I can't remember which one, but certainly R2014b allows as many cores as you have. 12 was the limit at R2011b though. As to why...I guess Mathworks supported parallelisation iteratively.
