How can I add some labels for a group of curves

Hi all

I have wriiten a program which the output is a group of curves.

I want to add a label for each curve and the points of each curve also connected by a line. my program is as below:

plot(x(i), y(j), '--rs', 'LineWidth', 1, 'MarkerEdgeColor', 'r', 'MarkerFaceColor', 'b', 'MarkerSize', 2);
hold on
xlim([40000 500000]);
ylim([5000 70000]);

can you guide me.

I expect you could use either the legend() or text() commands to do what you want.
