How to detect the eyebrow in a grayscale face image ? i find very difficult due to bad lightning effect

How to detect the eyebrow in a grayscale face image while the background is also gray in colour say for example Jaffe database. Initially I converted original image into binary but due to some bad lightning effect & presence of some shadow part , it consider as black colour and I find difficult to detect?
