Hi,
is there a way to update the license without having access to the GUI, i.e. via the command line?
Cheers Anton

Hi Anton,
I don't believe this is possible based on the information here:

They're obviously wrong. They were wrong at the time, and were never correct.

Hi,
I just found out that it is actually quite trivial. All you need to do is download the current license file from the Mathworks license center and replace the old one, which in my case was located here:
/usr/local/MATLAB/R2015a/licenses/
Cheers

It depends on the license type. Can you share the background of this request? I can imagine a need in larger organizations to apply changes for a larger group of users. I am sure I can find ways to automate this.

Just reading too late your solution. Yes, applying a new license file works - but this may depend on the license type. So for all others who read this and have a need. Please approach MathWorks installation support to discusse options.

I don't know much about license types. This is the data from the license center:
Option: Total Academic Headcount Campus
Activation Type: TAH Designated Computer
Use: Academic
Term: Annual
Release: R2015a
