Automating the copying of figures to a file

When I generate a figure in MATLAB I am able to use the GUI to copy the figure to a word processing program to organize results. Is there any way to automate this process? How would I go about specifying which figures to copy, and where the figure will be copied to?

Yes, Are you on Windows and willing to use ActiveX?
