Matlab GUI with arduino

Hi,

We are two students and we want to make a matlab GUI for a project (it's the first time we use a matlab GUI). We already have the GUI with two different buttons but we are having some troubles connecting the ARDUINO. We have two different codes (outside the GUI) that are related to arduino and they we don't have defined variables, every time we run the codes we get different values. How should we relate the buttons to the arduino codes?

How are you connecting to the Arduino? Are you doing this from within the GUI or does this occur in the "codes" you mention? Please clarify what these "codes" are (functions or scripts) and describe how the two buttons on your GUI are supposed to behave.
