How can i detect the forest part as green colour and land part as gray colour from the image?

Doing major project in GIS. The detection part will be done in matlab.

Use the Color Thresholder on the Apps tab.

If the forest is green, and the land is gray, and you couldn't get the Color thresholder to work, then you're doing it wrong. Or else explain what "not working" means to you.

You're going to have to be a lot more explicit about what's not working. I've given you several ways that I know for a fact will detect certain colors. You just have to adjust them for the colors you want. Please read : this link.
