If you have R2012a, you can do that with Matching Pursuit. See the help for wmpdictionary.m

I have R2012b, and unfortunately it does not have wmpdictionary.m...Is there another way to do it?

R2012b has not been released yet, and is not in beta either.

The version I have does not have wmpdictionary.m Can you just tell me how to create a dictionary in Matlab theoretically
