What does 'y:' stand for in plot command?

I need to debug a piece of code and I can't understand the 'y:' attribute at the end of the line. Can someone point out what it does?
if true
plot(<a 99X1 matrix>,<a 99x1 matrix>,'y:');
end

The LineSpec is explained in the plot documentation. Reading the documentation is how you can learn how MATLAB functions work.

It means a dotted yellow line. For that, you may check the documentation of plot command. That third input argument decides the line style, marker and color:
