callin MATLAB from FAST(NREL's software)

Hello there is a software which is called FAST, this software is provided by NREL(National Renewable Energy Laboratory) company. FAST is designed for wind turbine and it is capable to communicate with MATLAB, i mean MATLAB can call FAST within SIMULINK . i want to call MATLAB from FAST. how can i call MATLAB from FAST. it is necessary to say that FAST is based on FORTRAN. i know that FORTRAN can call MATLAB but i don't know how FAST can do it? please help me thanks a lot
