Mass matrix need to be square in ODE-solver?

Hello,
I have following differential equation:
M(y)*y'=0 with abs(y')=1
where M(y) is a 2x3 Matrix.
The ode15s()-solver gives me an error, that the M(y) need to be square..
How can I solve this Problem?
