How to add a toolbox to an academic use license?

11 views (last 30 days)
I have recieved a dmg file from the administration of my new academic job. As I can see from the splash screen of MATLAB startup I am using an "academic use" license. The manual I recieved told me to choose "Use a File Installation Key" During the installation and later I selected the .lic file provided in the dmg. So in general I did not have to create a Mathworks account, did not do any license activation and my codes are running with no problem.
After installation I figured out that the basic installation has the optimization toolbox but for some specific functions I need to install "Global" optimization toolbox. I did go to the Add-on explorer and found the toolbox. The explorer shows this button: Sign in to Buy or Get Trial. But I can not figure out how to proceed since I have not created any account which is associated with this license.
Can someone help me? Or share your experience please!

Hello there! Thanks a lot for your response! But can you be a bit more clear? What should I ask my IT/other department to provide?

They might need to provide a new lic file and possibly more installer files. But if they are using a license server then it might be more installer files together with them adjusting the license file on the server to give you access to the toolbox. Or perhaps they will just instruct you what to login as. There are multiple ways that they could handle the situation and the people who put together the dmg would know what to do.
At last resort you could purchase a standalone license for the one toolbox and configure the license information to look at both that license and the one you were provided. But talk to your IT people first; they should know how they prefer to handle it.

If the license is not associated with any account, you can try to create the account with your email adress and then you can put the license. At the end, the license will be automatically associated will the account.
That's how I did in my school, maybe it is not relevant here, but it worked for me. Maybe give it a try.
