It MIGHT be that. But it looks vaguely like there is the greek character eta in front of the (x-2)^2 term. And that does change the problem if there is. So is this the equation?

eta*(x-2)^2 - log(x) = 0

And we still do not know what is the problem. What do you want to translate? What do you need here? Does eta have some known value, and you want to solve for x? If so, then use fzero. Is eta unknown, and you want to do something unspecified?
