Duplicating a GUIDE created GUI to a new name and new folder

1 view (last 30 days)
Hello, I have a matlab GUI created in guide (so have myProgram1.m and myProgram1.fig) in a certain directory.
I would like to copy this to a new name (i.e. myProgram2.m and myProgram2.fig) and place in a new directory and have no link to the previous one.
What is the suggested way to do this
Thanks
Jason

The suggested way is to open myProgram1 in GUIDE, and tell GUIDE to Save As to the new location.
Do not just copy and rename: the .m and .fig for myProgram1 contain references to myProgram1 . You could edit the source myProgram2 to change the references there, but that would not change the .fig file.

Thanks Walter. So any functions defined in the myProgram1 folder as long as they are copied to the myProgram2 folder will be run from myProgram2 folder?

Yes, except you need to take the special care for myProgram1 vs myProgram2 itself as described above.
... And assuming that none of the code has hard-coded names of files to run()
