How to do Multi resolution segmentation of road image

I have to do object based road extraction. First, a road has been segmented. Then, classification has to be done to separate roads and non-roads( such as buildings, parking lots).

I think I removed the "*" at the beginning and end of the line. When the final "*" has a space before it, the "*" are not interpreted as mark-up, and in that case just become "noise" to the question. With the space before the final "*" removed, the mark-up would be interpreted as requesting to "bold" the entire question, which is not necessary.
