fitctree - terminate training after iteration or after criterion

I am using fitctree for my classification task. I noticed that the best prediction result frequently is given after the one of the first 5 iterations. However, I found no possibility to terminate the training earlier.

Does someone know, if there is a possibility?

Does the model still improve, if the objective in later trainings is not getting any better?
