How to process 2d images into 3d image.

I plan to make a robot which captures real time images of the surrounding.e.g a simple room which will be in 2d and using these images i want to create a 3d model map of the room.So how to create a 3d image from set of 2d images?please help

I would recommend hitting the literature on this one. There is lots out there.
When you get to the point that you have a specific MATLAB-related question; pose that to use here.

Sean de's advice is good: when you search the literature you might find it helpful to look for stereo vision, optic flow, and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).

Hello Nikhil,
I have 3D Laser camera and i want to interface that camera to matlab and generate 3d point cloud map. I dont have any idea how to do it please help me out where and how to start. Actually i want to built 3d Slam in matlab. So what if we sought out things together ? if you dont mind can we share our id so that keep in contact with each other?
