Is EMLMEX in the student version of Matlab?

Is the function EMLMEX provided with the student version of Matlab? If no, which of the toolboxes should I buy together with the student version?

No, you cannot use Embedded Matlab for code generation or MEX file generation with the student version.

Do you know of any good alternatives in the file exchange? At university, emlmex speeds up my program with about 50% ...

That would be scary if there would be a free alternative for this ;-) Seriously, most universtities have large concurrent licenses you may are able to access from home for this purpose.
