tight_subplot with set(gca,'ColorOrder', ... );hold on; loses axes numbers

I am using tight_subplot from the file exchange to make some plots that also have custom 'ColorOrder' properties. I find that the "hold on" which is required for the 'ColorOrder' to work makes the axes numbers disappear. The regular subplot works fine. Please help. Thanks!
