DAQ Problem with DT9816-S - DTOL: System not configured

Hi MATLAB Community,
I have been using the DT9816-S DAQ for a while. For the most part it works fine, but once in a while the following error message appears when I use the method getsample:
Error using daq.analoginput_dtol_1_5/getsample DTOL: System not configured
Error in analoginput/getsample (line 40) samples = getsample(uddobj);
The error persists even if I delete the ai object. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
