Matlab supports Parallel Processing?Can it be applied to Medical Image Reconstruction?

I just know that it has a parallel tool box.

My intention is to convert the Sequential ART(Algebraic Reconstruction Technique) Algorithm into Parallel ART Algorithm.

So as to prove Parallel implementation of ART algorithm approach shows the clear advantage with greater number of threads and it shall speeds up the execution time of the algorithms with dependency while maintaining the image quality.
