How to isolate part of 3D image?

Hi,

I have a question once I generate 3D construction from a set of micro CT images. This 3D construction contains several particles that are not touched with each others. However, I want to get single particle 3D construction for further investigation. Is there any function in Matlab or any algorithms that can extract each particle out? So instead one 3D construction contains several particles, I can have several 3D constructions contain only one particle.

Thank you for the reply.

I know this function can give me some properties for each separated part in 3D construction. But what I really want is how to isolate each particle. Because I need those single particle 3D construction for further investigation.

regionprops3 is still the tool to use. You can use regionprops3(...,'Image') to extract sub-volumes containing each of the particles.
