How to reduce frequency components of fft of an image.

I am working on Compressed sensing of an image. I want to get fft of an image and then reduce the frequency components one after another of that fft image. Can any body help me in this problem.

By reducing frequency components do you mean filtering the image?

What do you mean by "one after another" and "reduce". Do you just want to zero out some range of frequencies? Or multiply them by some factor less than 1?

This means that if we plot the fft of an image then there will be a frequency range. In that range we start from 0 to highest frequency and just zero the value at first frequency component and third then fifth and so on. Or you just give me some code relating to how to edit the values of frequency components.
